Therapy for people who don't want a therapist.

Being listened to isn't the same as your life changing. This relationship is built to move things, with someone who's the same person in session and in life, so you can be too. You'll feel the difference in the first call.

  • Free 25-minute video consultation.
  • Share as much as you want, ask anything, and get a direct read on fit.
  • Focused attention: ten active clients at most, with access between sessions when you need it. Secure video.

Talking about it is not the same as moving it.

Maybe a life that looks right from every angle has been wrong underneath for years. Maybe something is on fire right now: a relationship, a career, your own wellbeing.

You've probably seen a professional and wondered, eventually, if the hour was worth it. Or you've avoided it, suspecting an open-ended conversation about this week, or advice you've already read.

I've watched capable people work hard on themselves, or go deep inside themselves, for years and still circle the same mountain. Insight without change turns into shame. Change without an inner shift turns into burnout. The work here is built around how people change, inside and out: unblocking what's stuck, then making the specific changes that advance who you really are.

How the work goes

Most of what gets called dysfunction started as intelligence.

Your ways of coping were built by a younger you, facing something real, and they worked. Nothing is broken. The question is what needs to shift, evolve, or integrate for the life you're in, and the one you actually want.

Three steps. A written plan by your third session.

  1. A free consultation

Twenty-five minutes on video. I'll tell you plainly what I think the ways forward are. If it's not me, I'll gladly share other options I trust and respect.

  2. Calm and clarity, sessions one to three

Trust first, anything acute next, then clarity: what's happening, what you really want and why, and what to handle first. By the end of session three you have a written picture and a plan you believe in. If we're not there, we decide the next step together. I won't waste your time or your energy.

  3. The work, built to end

Weekly or biweekly sessions. Movement on the plan, accountability, adjusting as things change. For the stretches that need more, or when you want maximum momentum, Between Sessions adds a weekly 20-minute tailored check-in with messaging and phone access in between. People leave here unstuck, clear about what they want and who they are, demonstrably different, and still moving.

Fees, insurance, and how sessions work

Most people choose a therapist based on the wrong things.

The question I'm asked most is how to find a good counselor. This letter is my answer: Three things that decide whether this works

I work with the whole picture and aim at what has to move.

The problem is rarely just yours. It's tangled up with a spouse, a family, a company, the people whose lives are wired into yours. A change in you moves all of it, and all of it can hold you in place no matter how much insight you have. I hold the whole picture and keep aim on every level that needs to move. The arc I see most often runs from crisis, or stuck, to wanting more growth than you thought was available, and I work the whole length of it.

Individuals

A crisis is here now. Or something old surfaced again in a different season. Or you've worked around a thing for so long that you're done accommodating it. Or you're done being fine and want more.

The Work

Couples and families

As often as individuals. A marriage that has become a nightmare, or one you want to make healthy before it does. The event or pattern that's tearing a family apart. Everyone is heard and everyone is accountable. I don't take sides, and I keep aim on what needs to move in the relationship and in each person.

Couples and families

Teams and organizations

Custom teaching on growth, stress, conflict, communication, organizational health, leadership, and what healing and growth actually are. Built for the room each time, from what the group is carrying.

Fifteen years. Ten thousand plus client hours. A decade running businesses alongside it.

I'm Andrew Woods. I love working with people. Nothing here is performative or straitlaced; it's personal, deep, and practical, with you specifically in mind. I work inside the person and around them, moving between somatic, relational, and cognitive approaches as the situation develops and as what works for you becomes clear.

I know the terrain of old survival patterns in capable adults, and I understand the business and the systems when they're part of the goal, from years as an owner and as an advisor to founders and leaders. Other clinicians send me the high-stakes, high-complexity situations. Just as often, people come because they want more of their own potential and satisfaction, and they want someone who can hold the full scope of their world.

More about me

No guarantees. Here's what you can check me on.

Nobody can promise you an outcome in this work, and anyone who does is selling something. These hold whether or not we work together.

  • I'll tell you in the consultation if I'm not a good fit, and who I think is.
  • By your third session you'll have a written picture and a plan.
  • I answer every inquiry myself, within one business day.
  • Confidentiality taken seriously, and discretion with it. Nothing about you goes to an insurer.
  • The work is built to end, and the door stays open after.

What I ask of you is honesty, with yourself and with me. The trust that makes that possible is my job to earn.

Find out in 25 minutes whether this is for you.

Book the free consultation. I work with ten clients at a time. If I'm full, you'll know before the consultation. Keep it anyway, and leave with a place on the wait list, a referral, or both.
